In the Spotlight: Kay McCormick – Head of Recruitment

Marked annually on March 8th, International Women’s Day is a global day, celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It is a focal point in the movement for women’s rights and has now occurred for well over a century with the first gathering held in 1911.

Aligned with International Women’s Day, this week we celebrate our very own Kay McCormick, Head of Recruitment who is In the Spotlight. Here’s the inside scoop from Kay herself…

What does your role at Jet2.com and Jet2holidays entail?
I work in the HR Team and have responsibility for leading the Recruitment, Onboarding and Learning and Development Teams. I’ve worked in the business for 11 years now and loved every minute!

What do you love most about working at Jet2.com and Jet2holidays?

Our people. They are at the heart of the business with everyone Working as One Team to make it the success it is today. The passion our colleagues demonstrate each and every day certainly shines through and makes me very proud to work for such an amazing company.

What has been your biggest achievement whilst working at Jet2.com and Jet2holidays?
Leading the delivery of the annual recruitment and onboarding requirements, making sure we have the right colleagues in the right roles to deliver the operational requirements and our famously friendly VIP service to our all-important customers. I couldn’t do this without my fantastic team and key stakeholders working together from all areas of the business.

After a busy day how do you switch off?

I like to exercise regularly and especially love training on my Elliptical which I call my ‘Best Friend’! I also like to watch a good box set on Netflix – although I’m watching Devils at the moment on Sky Atlantic with Patrick Dempsey, and coupled with a nice glass of red (Amarone’s my favourite) is just a perfect way to end the day – not on a school night of course!

Any tips on how colleagues can switch off?
Why not listen to your favourite music or a relaxing playlist. Check out our Wellbeing Hub, where you will find some great podcasts and lots of different resources to choose from. There’s something for everyone! Or, read a book or even better run a bath.

Settle the debate: Does chocolate go in the cup-board or the fridge?

Always in the fridge! Although, I’ve heard it shouldn’t be and should be kept at cool room temperature – but not for me.
