Flight Simulator Engineer

Learn to become a multi-skilled Flight Simulator Engineer within our fast-paced airline, Jet2.com.

What will you do?

As a Simulator Engineer Apprentice at Jet2, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining our Boeing 737-300, Boeing 737-800, and Airbus A320 flight simulators, along with cabin training equipment. You’ll support the maintenance of highly complex simulation systems that operate within a 24/7 training environment. This involves carrying out maintenance activities to help ensure maximum reliability and availability. The role is highly varied and technical. You’ll develop specialist skills across multiple disciplines including avionics, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and computer systems.

Apprenticeship

This is a unique apprenticeship and a rare opportunity to work hands-on with cutting-edge flight simulation technology in a real-world aviation environment. You’ll build exceptional engineering skills, gain valuable problem-solving experience, and gain exposure to multiple disciplines that are highly valued across the industry.

This apprenticeship is a 46-month course which includes a day release at college, whilst on the job training at one of our dedicated training facilities. 

What qualifications will you get?

You will complete a Level 3 Mechatronics Maintenance Technician and upon completion you will gain: 

  • Level 3 Mechatronics Maintenance Technician qualification.

Where will you be based?

For this apprenticeship you will be based at one of our dedicated training centres either Bradford Training Centre or Cheadle Training Centre

Who are we looking for?

  • A positive, forward-thinking attitude and a customer-facing approach.

  • Passionate, driven individual who are excited about a career in Flight Simulator Engineering.

  • A full, clean UK driving licence.

  • Five GCSEs at grade4/C or above (you will be asked to provide evidence of this), including maths, English and a science or a technical subject.

  • A passion for practical, hands-on work.

  • You must be 18 years of age.

Where could we take you?

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will be offered a Simulator Mechanic role.
