Reporting to the Senior Buyer, the Buyer will join the Engineering Purchasing Team to procure and maintain the availability of aerospace components to support the fleet, focusing mainly on Aircraft on heavy maintenance at both internal and external maintenance facilities.

The role will be based at our Hangar facility in Manchester working a shift pattern of four days on, four days off, mainly supporting maintenance inputs across 3 bays but will also require a broad knowledge of procurement to be able to support all areas of the purchasing team when required. You will help ensure all material and logistical requirements are actioned for maintenance schedules, as well as support requirements for Aircraft that are on maintenance inputs. You will be responsible for the progress of orders and manage transactions which will include quote comparisons to guarantee minimal cost and maximum availability of components. The role will require you to be able to communicate to all areas of the business and offer the chance to help create and implement projects that will improve materials support

The successful candidate:

  • Will be a team player who has proven purchasing experience preferably in an aerospace environment
  • Be able to demonstrate strong negotiation and vendor management skills along with the ability to interpret and understand current market conditions.
  • You will have good time management and be deadline orientated and bring a technical and commercial insight to the role with an operational and hands-on approach.
